“Discover the secrets of the authentic Sfakian pie!”
We invite you on a unique journey of taste and tradition in the heart of Crete, in the
picturesque village of Xirosteri. At Cretan Gea, you will have the opportunity to
learn the secrets of making the authentic Sfakian pie, one of the most beloved
traditional sweets of the island and especially of Western Crete.
What we will do together:
- The secrets of the dough: We will reveal the secrets of the traditional dough for Sfakian pie to you. This is a dough that requires patience and skill in order to achieve a soft and pliable texture.
- Filling with Chania mizithra: We will use only pure ingredients, such as mizithra and fragrant thyme honey, to create a flavor that will mesmerize you.
- Molding and baking: We will show you how to mold the phyllo and fill it, creating a thin, almost transparent work of art that will be delicious and aromatic. The baking will be done on a clay plate over a wood fire without oil and the baking method will enhance the flavor.
- Savouring the product: After baking, you will have the opportunity to try your own Sfakian pie, accompanied by local raki .
